An Insight on the Word “Gothic”

What is the first thing comes to your mind when you hear the word “goth” or “gothic”. If we take about fashion then you will think about something dark especially black and mysterious. In the case of makeup also the black color is used majorly but if we talk about accessories then we will remember the entirely unique style of accessories which has some or other relationship with olden days like medieval period. Let’s take the example of gothic rings only. Every ring will be designed with the mix of silver and black color as a base with the designs which are dark in nature too.
Since many years there is research going on about why did the people opted for this fashion. So in this scenario, one of the well-known researchers Maxim W. Furek noted: "Goth is a revolt against the slick fashions of the 1970s disco era and a protest against the colorful pastels and extravagance of the 1980s.” And eventually, it was opted as a form of fashion only. Even though gothic jewelry has a darker touch in it but still it has a unique form of style which is loved by non-gothic followers too.

I am not a gothic culture or fashion lover but I can definitely say that I appreciate loads of accessory designs of gothic culture. Be it a claw ring or skull pendant I love all the designs. Gothic culture never promoted darker activities of the way of living instead it was a rebel which converted itself into a form of fashion. If you will compare the attires of that era with the current one then you will find out that people are making modifications in this fashion style as per their perceptions and outlook. The base of their styles is same but they have modified it into more sophisticated manner.
